POLYTOPS^® pins have a coloured plastic-topped head which is made from tough UPVC polymer and we have two colours available in our clearance section.

All our POLYTOPS^® plastic-headed pins are made from A4 marine-grade stainless steel, which guarantees against corrosion from salt water or chlorine.

Rust stains can occur when A2 or zinc-plated steel pins are used outside. The carbon in these steels reacts when it comes into contact with salt water (or chlorine), resulting in them corroding. This corrosion then leaks a brown rust stain onto the fascia or soffit board, leaving unpleasant and noticeable stain marks running down the boards.

Please note: Saltwater mist can travel 50+ miles inland from the coast, so most places in Britain can be subject to rust stain corrosion if the wrong fastener is used for outside fittings. In addition, heavily polluted areas can affect zinc-coated or galvanized steel, so the risk of rust stain is greater in urbanised areas like cities and bigger towns.
