Can Your Garden Become Another ‘Room’?
If you’ve got a garden, you’ve probably already heard the phrase that you’re ‘extending your home outdoors’.
Making the most of space in your garden is a great way to extend your home with your own ‘garden room’ as an extension of your house.
It’s a great way to create a stronger unity between your garden and your home, but it can often seem like quite a daunting challenge, especially if want to seamlessly extend the interior of your home into your garden.
We’ve had years of experience in supplying roofing membrane for outbuildings to improve the garden areas of many homes, so check out some useful tips to get you started.
Create a Bar Area
Decked areas are pretty versatile and most people utilise this space as an outdoor dining area for family meals in the summer. While this is a great idea, it is not the only way to make the most of your decking as a great entertainment space..
Instead, why not turn a section of your deck into a covered bar area which can be used all year round? Having some form of roof above your structure also helps protect it from wet weather and allows you to go about your business without feeling the full effects of the elements; even in summer it will provide a cool, shaded area to relax in!
Add some seating to your bar area such as bar stools, benches or bean bags, and you’re all set!
Create an Outdoor Kitchen
Who says that the kitchen has to be indoors? Utilising an area of your garden as an outdoor kitchen is a great way to add another feature to your garden while enjoying the beauty of the outdoors.
Be sure to allow enough room to prepare all your food – as well as cook it. This will reduce the amount of trips you’ll need to make to the kitchen to fetch supplies. Using a BBQ (gas or coal), you can cook up a variety of different dishes to suit all tastes and really make the most of your composite decking.
Why not construct a small herb garden for some fresh accompaniments to your al fresco cooking?
You could even go one step further and install an outdoor sink to reduce the amount of clutter in your kitchen sink, or even find a suitable fridge which can be used outside to keep all your ingredients fresh and ready to cook!
Create a Feature Wall
Spruce up your dividing fence or wall to add some interior design options to your outdoor space. Hanging baskets, wall lights, climbing plants and flowers all add to creating a fantastic environment to enjoy all year round.
Using wall-mounted mirrors in a small garden can help reflect light and make your garden look bigger and brighter with very little effort. There are also waterproof canvasses which make a great wall feature and are a great addition to any outdoor space. Create your own gallery and add a personal stamp and talking point to your decked area.
